The very best of the South East's produce, crafts, books and plants were showcased at this year's event. With over 50 local food producers offering tasty produce to try and buy.
Over 6000 visitors attended over the Bank Holiday Sunday and Monday to see teams of heavy horses working on seasonal tasks around the Museum, and cooks producing amazing dishes in the Southern Cooperative Cookery Theatre. Vistors could take horse-drawn wagon rides, and watch traditional and historical demonstrations around the site.
Junior Master Chef quarter finalist ten-year-old Nia Edwards conjured up a mouth watering dish, and local school children from Chichester High School for Girls shared their chocolate and chilli tart as part of their winning entry to the Create & Cook competition, organised by fit2cook and sponsored by the Southern Cooperative.
'Pelican in her Piety's' 15th Century Living History Camp displayed their Medieval kitchen including 600 year old recipes, such as Urchins, Corets and Tostee!
Andy Robertshaw, Military Historian, Author and Broadcaster, set up a re-enactment WW1 and WW2 Field Kitchen, and vistors were able to watch how and what the Forces would have eaten during the two world wars. Visitors were also given the opportunity to sample modern army rations.
Andy Robertshaw will be returning alongside a variety of museums and re-enactment groups to a commemorative event next Summer. 'Remembering' WW1 and WW2 - Horses at War, will take place on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th June 2014. The weekend will be an opportunity to remember 100 years since the outbreak of the First World War and 70 years since the invasion of Normandy on the 6th June 1944. More information about this event will be available soon.
Alongside children's activites and tractor displays the South Downs National Park launched a new Food & Drink Trail.
