Waterside Dining at the Museum’s Stunning Café

Enjoy waterside dining at the Museum’s stunning café, with fantastic views across the mill pond. Open to both Museum visitors and to the general public, our café is dog friendly and has free parking.

We favour the use of our stone-ground flour, milled at our 17th century watermill, where possible. Our ethos and aim is to work in collaboration with local producers and suppliers to provide top quality and fresh produce to serve to our customers.

We guarantee that the food we serve you is of the very best quality and we produce a range of high-quality products that you can take away with you, including stone-ground flour and biscuits (available from our gift shop).

We offer a changing menu with a selection of daily specials. Gluten free, vegetarian or vegan? Please talk to our team about your dietary needs and any allergies or in tolerances – we are happy to help with alternative meal choices where possible.

View our Spring/Summer menu.

Please note that the café stops serving hot  meals at 3pm daily – snacks, drinks and ice creams are available from the counter until closing.

Café Opening Times

Open 7 days a week from 10am–5pm during BST and 10am–4pm at other times (Museum opens at 10.30am). Please note that these are our normal café hours but are subject to change during COVID-19 times. See our FAQs page for up to date information.

Hot and cold food, cakes, drinks, ice creams and items from our counter are available all day. Seating is also available on our outdoor decking area.

The café is dog friendly, with pets accepted in the first section of the interior space and on the deck outside.

Free wifi is available to our café customers.

Why not treat yourself and a special someone to a pre-ordered Museum hamper – making your visit that little bit extra special!

Collect your pre-ordered hamper from the Museum café and take it away with you on your daily adventure or tuck in at one of the many quiet spots around our 40-acre site. Hampers must be booked by 3pm the day before your visit and will be ready for collection when you arrive from the Museum café.

Alternatively, bring your own picnic – we have plenty of spots around the site for you to enjoy!

For visitors wishing to picnic, you will find benches and picnic tables near the market square and mill pond, plus in many quiet spots around our 40-acre site. Indoor seating is provided (subject to availability) in the Building Crafts Gallery.
