bulletEarly Music.  This wonderful event takes place from 2pm on Sunday 12 July, when the strains of period music will float around our beautiful Downland site. The musicians, some in period costume, will perform Medieval, Tudor and Stuart pieces - including historic 'pop' music from the streets, lively music from the theatre and courtly pieces.  News Release

The Reverend Canon David Nason, Priest Vicar at Chichester Cathedral, is to give the address at this year’s ecumenical open-air service on St Roche's Hill – better known as The Trundle – north of Chichester, West Sussex on St Roche's Day, Sunday 16 August at 6.30pm on the site of the former chapel of St Roche, patron saint of healing, which was built on top of the hill.  News Release

bulletA traditional English maypole is to become a regular fixture by the historic Market Square at the Museum . The maypole will be used throughout the year at the Museum’s seasonal events and on children’s activity days, and will be officially handed over to the Museum at a lively ceremony complete with dancing around it, on Saturday 2 May.  News Release

bulletWeald Forest Ridge Landscape Partnership Project Courses.  The museum is part of a large Heritage Lottery Fund project whose aim is to celebrate the distinctiveness of the High Weald Forest Ridge landscape and its buildings. This year we offer three day schools designed to enhance participants' recognition of the special features characterising buildings of the High Weald AONB and distributed through the Weald and Downland region.

bulletThe Museum's Schools Service is one of the first organisations in the country to be awarded the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge, recognising it as a provider of high quality, safely managed educational experiences for young people. The Quality Badge is a brand new scheme, combining for the first time learning and safety into one easily recognisable badge for all organisations providing learning outside experiences.

FOR SALE - TIMBER FRAMES

The Museum's renowned Timber Framing from Scratch course produces high quality oak frames and a number of these are now for sale.  Some of these are complete with studs and braces and some are the basic frame but could be complete for buyers who are willing to wait until the intermediate framing courses take place. Previous buyers are using them for summerhouses, play houses, offices and garden sheds, clad in whatever materials are wanted. Prices are dependent on degree of completion and range from £2,500 to £4,250 plus VAT, dimensions are 10ft x 10ft x 8ft to the eaves.  If you are looking for something different for your home or the perfect present for the person who has everything, please contact Diana Rowsell on 01243 811464.
