Clare De Bathe

Museum Director

Clare was previously CEO of the Chichester Community Development Trust (CCDT) and has 25 years of experience in the voluntary, community, and education sectors. Clare has grown the CCDT over 12 years from a standing start to a Trust, now, of equivalent size to the Weald & Downland. Clare has known the Museum her whole life; she grew up in Hampshire, now lives in Bosham and she knew our founder, Roy Armstrong from her childhood. Clare has grown the CCDT property portfolio (‘finding inspiring properties that people need to bring community to life’), in part through successful fundraising.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining the Weald and Downland Living Museum at such an exciting time. It’s a privilege to contribute to a place that so passionately preserves and shares the rich heritage of rural life, and to be part of a team that values tradition, craftsmanship, and community learning.”
