Discover the Art of Quilting
The Course
Quilting has been used for thousands of years to add extra warmth, protection and decoration to clothing and household items. Simple in concept, yet amazingly versatile, spend the day learning simple techniques including shadow, corded and stuffed quilting (also known as boutis, Marseille and trapunto) in a relaxed and informal setting, gaining an appreciation of the versatility of the craft.
The Tutor
Charlotte Dawber trained as a teacher of dress and textiles specializing in embroidered and printed textiles and theatrical costume. Her early career focused on historic textiles including study at Bath Museum of Costume and a dissertation on Venetian Lace. Her MLitt thesis focused on Early English Domestic Embroideries and was followed by PhD in Art History looking at the impact of religion on costume and textiles.
