Introduction to Patchwork – SOLD OUT

This course is fully booked.  Please email courses@wealddown.co.uk or call 01243 811021 if you wish to be added to the waiting list.

The Course

Spend a relaxing and mindful day exploring the traditional technique of English paper piecing and create a mini-quilt. English Paper Piecing (EPP) is a technique that dates back to the early 18th Century but is just as relevant and enjoyable today as it was then. Connect with the generations of quilters that have come before and consider how hand stitching can be therapeutic and mindful, enabling us to slow down and stitch slowly as an antidote to our often very busy lives. Explore some the beautiful traditional patterns and take away a skill that could change your your whole life!

The Tutor

Charlotte Dawber trained as a teacher of dress and textiles, specialising in embroidered and printed textiles and theatrical costume, and is a qualified teacher in the Adult Learning and Skills sector.

She focused my early career on historic textiles, gaining first a teaching qualification and undertaking study at Bath Museum of Costume, with a dissertation on Venetian Lace, a M.Litt in Gallery Studies with a thesis looking at Early English Domestic Embroideries, and a Ph.D in Art History looking at the impact of religion on costume and textiles.
