Course Description
Knitting small squares or blocks, participants will practice cable patterns while adding bobbles and twists to create traditional Aran style samples which can be used for future projects.
There will be an opportunity to learn about the heritage of Aran knitting and some of its history as well as to create your own designs based on traditional patterns.
The Tutor
Maggie South leaned to knit at age 7 and has not put her needles down since. She has trained as a knitting teacher and has run after school knitting classes for primary children as well as leading adult workshops and knitting groups. Now retired from her role in Public Health, Maggie enjoys promoting knitting as a way to well-being, understanding how knitting can promote a sense of calm and support mindfulness as well as creativity and social skills.
Participant Information
All materials will be provided. Course limited to 6 participants.
Fee & Refreshments
£60 per person, to include tuition, coffees and teas. If you have any dietary requirements please let us know in advance. The Museum cafe will be open or you may wish to bring a packed lunch.
