Christmas Holiday Activities

Why not enjoy the great outdoors and take part in some Christmas holiday activities at the Museum?

From Tuesday, 19 to Thursday, 21 December, you will be able to visit the Museum and enjoy some festive craft activities around the site from 11am to 3pm.

Christmastime Folklore Stories

Gather in Walderton House, the house that has seen hundreds of years and many changes, to hear Yuletide folklore and stories. It is the Victorian era and the postmistress has received some letters from the community, enquiring as to ways of keeping house elves in check, goblins from the larder, stop dragons from causing an eternal winter, rescue the best baker in town from the fairies and discover the treasure hidden beneath dancing trees. Join professional storyteller, Dawn Nelson, at 1130, 1230. 1330 and 1430 on the 19, 20 and 21 December to discover how to deal with the mischievous wee folk this Yuletide and have a Christmas that is merry and bright.

Knucker the Dragon’s Nature School

Come and make your own Christmas decorations at the Creation Station, where we will make cornucopia cones based on Victorian decorations and paper Christmas trees to hang in your own tree at home. At the Investigation Station you can learn about Christmases past and where your favourite Christmas traditions started – what does Advent really mean? And do you know which book has changed what we eat on Christmas? You can also play our Knucker the Dragon marble game at the Games Station.

Activities this week are included in an annual Museum membership, no need to pre-book just present your valid membership on arrival.
