Food and Drink at the Museum

It’s the perfect spot for a relaxing lunch overlooking the millpond and watermill, and you don’t need to be a Museum visitor to enjoy our café.

Open 7 days a week from 9.30am–4pm in the winter season & 9.30am-5pm in the summer season. See our FAQs page for up to date information.

Our café menu’s available are:

  • Breakfast 9.30am to 11.15am
  • Light lunches 11.30am to 3pm
  • Hot lunches 12noon to 3pm*

*Please note: the café kitchen closes at 3pm, after this we serve hot drinks and light snacks.

Hot and cold snacks, cakes, hot & cold drinks and ice creams are available from our café and our seasonal refreshment Shepherd’s huts (you will be advised on arrival if the Shepherd’s huts are open).

The café seating is available indoors and on our outdoor decking area, this is only to be used for items purchased from the Museum café. Our café is eat-in only, take-away food options are available from our seasonal refreshment Shepherd’s hut(s).

Free Wi-Fi is available to our café customers.

Please note:

To protect our customers’ health and safety, and ensure a comfortable experience for everyone, we respectfully request that outside food and beverages are not be brought into our café. This is to prevent potential cross-contamination and to adhere to our rigorous allergen management protocols. We please ask a member of staff for our indoor / outdoor picnic areas.

We have picnic benches located around the Museum grounds where visitors can enjoy their own picnics or takeaway food from the catering outlets.

Our Café is Dog Friendly, and Dogs are also welcome in our designated ‘Dog Friendly’ section of our café, which is located at the far end and the associated decking area.

Cyclists – You must secure your cycles in the rack provided in the main car park (please bring a cycle lock). We cannot allow cycles to be stood or propped around the café and shop entrance area to adhere with health and safety and accessibility.
