Sound and Resonance workshop at the Weald & Downland Living Museum

Sound and Resonance Workshop

The Course

Explore sound and resonance elements of sound therapy for health and well-being through sound and listening meditations, as well as practical activities such as a drumming circle and gong circle where the concepts can be experienced.

There will be a series of short informal discussion around sound and listening in the past to bring these elements into connection with the museum collection. The theory element is based on extensive research carried out during Jez’s long connection with the museum as a historical musician.

The Tutor

Jez is an experienced sound therapist and historical musician, playing music for over 40 years, researching sound for 25 years and playing the gongs for 10 years. He provides sound bath sessions in a wide variety of inspiring settings, with a strong focus on connecting sound with both the natural and historic built environments. As a partially deaf musician he has developed a range of multi-sensory listening skills which he uses to create a unique playing style. This approach encourages a heightened sense of awareness of vibration and resonance to create a deep, immersive and profound sense of relaxation and meditation. He promotes the benefits of multi-sensory, or “engaged” listening skills which can have far reaching benefits for our health and wellbeing.
You can learn more about him through his website www.playingintime.co.uk
