Introduction to Signwriting
The Course
A hands-on day to learn the basics of freehand brush lettering and sign writing. Students will paint their own unique sign to take home. The course is suitable for conservators, interior designers, artists, homeowners and those wanting a new hobby.
The morning session will cover tools and their care, paint use, basic brush skills, paint control and basic strokes leading to a block alphabet. In the afternoon you will prepare, layout and space a design to create a panel of lettering to take away (e.g. personal name /house name/ number/alphabet).
The Tutor
Wayne Osborne is one of the few traditional sign writers left in the world who hand paint signs. He has been trading as Osborne Signs in Midhurst, West Sussex since 1994, providing all types of hand-written signs including hanging signs, shop fascias, company vehicles, exterior lettering, gold leaf, honours boards and many more.
