An evening with Will Kirk

Please join us for ‘An evening with Will Kirk’.

We are excited to announce that we will be joined by TV personality Will Kirk, known mainly from the popular BBC show, The Repair Shop which is filmed here at the Museum.

The evening will consist of Will talking about his debut book, ‘Restore: The art of caring for the objects you love’. Will, will chat about his book and the audience will have the opportunity to participate and ask their own questions to Will. There will then be the chance to purchase Will’s book.

About the book:

The debut book from Repair Shop expert Will Kirk – an inspirational guide to the principles of woodworking, restoration and maintaining items around your home. Caring for the items you love around the home is easier – and more rewarding – than you think. In his first book, The Repair Shop’s resident woodworking expert Will Kirk takes you on a tour of the elements of wood care and restoration, from basic principles and quick fixes around the home to larger projects. Restore shows how simple and joyful wood care can be, from fixing knicks and stains and making small repairs, to household items you can use to help care for your furniture and other wooden objects.

The heartwarming stories of The Repair Shop have made it one of the nation’s most beloved TV shows, attracting over 6m viewers per episode. In a society of convenience and trend-led interiors, Will is passionate about showing the sustainable, creative and emotional rewards of woodwork and restoring old furniture. Through engaging with traditional skills, he encourages us to disconnect from our screens and escape the pace of modern life with a practical hobby. Through step-by-step guides and beautiful photography, Restore teaches us how to save pieces of furniture from the scrap heap and appreciate the craftsmanship behind the objects we use every day. The book encourages us all to slow down and appreciate the beauty of woodcraft through accessible projects – which anyone can start working on at home!
