Historical Skills workshops

Historical Skills

Where can we find evidence (clues) to tell us about the past? Care is needed in interpreting the clues!

Either through workshops or a series of shorter activities, learners will have the opportunity to explore clues about the past and develop their historical skills. Enquiries are welcomed and we can chat about the focus you’d like your visit to take and how best it might be organised.

Workshops

Survival in the Past KS2–KS4

Duration: 45 minutes
Maximum numbers: 15 children

In this 45-minute session we will look at documents and other sources that the Museum has used to interpret our building, recreate the clothing and then give you a conundrum to decide on your conclusion.

With each of the buildings that have been saved and moved to the Museum, we have had to make choices based on sources materials on how we explain them.

There can be different interpretations of any historical source and some sources may seem of greater use than others. So pupils will be asked to use these real life skills and evaluate the use of different historical sources.
