Join us on this special weekend to enjoy seasonal demonstrations focusing on the harvest. Over the course of this weekend you can see a variety of different produce harvested across the Museum site. From the vegetables in Whittaker’s Cottage Victorian garden, to flax at Tindalls Cottage and the produce of Bayleaf farmhouse garden and orchard.
Talks and demonstrations are subject to change, but we plan to include:
- The Tudor harvest
- Health and medicine in Tudor England
- The hedgerow harvest
- Working heavy horses
- Mealtime in the Tudor household
- Smuggling in Sussex (a performance)
- The Victorian cottage harvest
- The Toll House harvest
The Harvest Weekend will take place from Saturday 1 September to Sunday 2 September 2018. Standard Museum admission prices apply (free for Annual Members) – tickets are available to buy online (select ‘general admission’) or on the day. Special rates are available for groups of 10 or more.
Dogs on short leads are welcome and there is ample free parking. The Museum will be open from 10.30am – 6.00pm and activities are planned to run between 11am and 4pm.
The Museum’s waterside café, Wattle and Daub, will be open serving hot and cold meals, snacks and drinks from 9.30am – 3pm. Our café is dog friendly.
