Museum Wins Sussex Visitor Attraction of the Year Award

The Weald & Downland Open Air Museum is proud to have been named Sussex Visitor Attraction of the Year at the Celebration of Sussex Life Awards.

The awards, held at the Hilton Brighton Metropole on 1st October, saw the crème de la crème of Sussex’s food, drink and hospitality provides win awards across seventeen categories. The Sussex Visitor Attraction of the Year Award category was open to visitor attractions in Sussex that increase footfall into our wonderful county, offering tours and other activities as part of the overall visitor experience. This award category was kindly sponsored by Great Walstead School.

 

Commenting on the Museum’s award win, Richard Pailthorpe, Museum Director said “We are proud and delighted to have been named Sussex Visitor Attraction of the Year. This award is a fantastic endorsement of our designated collection of rescued historic vernacular buildings from across the South East. It is also testament to our dedicated team of staff and volunteers, whose energy, passion and enthusiasm help to make a trip to the Museum a fantastic day out for visitors of all ages.”

About the Awards
Now in their second year, the Celebration of Sussex Life Awards champion, highlight and showcase people’s favourite food, drink and hospitality businesses, as nominated by readers of Sussex Life magazine. The awards use a panel of high-profile judges, all of whom live and work in East or West Sussex, to shortlist the nominees, who are then visited or interviewed to determine a worthy winner in each category. All finalists were invited to the awards ceremony at the Hilton Brighton Metropole on Thursday 1 October 2015, which included a fabulous Champagne reception, three-course meal and the awards presentation.
