Joining Forces to Support Children and Families This Spring

We are delighted to be supporting another local charity this Spring. The Sussex Snowdrop Trust, a charity providing nursing care at home for children living with life-threatening such as cancer, brain tumours, cystic fibrosis, heart and lung conditions.

Founded in 1993, The Sussex Snowdrop Trust helps hundreds of children and their families through nursing, financial and emotional support during some of the most challenging times following diagnosis. The charity currently cares for approximately 61 families, within a 15-mile radius of Chichester, and also funds an additional specialist nurse at Fordwater School, Chichester, supporting pupils with complex medical and educational needs.

 

Supporting the Community Through Shared Experiences

The Museum will be supporting the Trust this spring by hosting two special community days. The first will be a Volunteers’ Day, offering Trust volunteers a well-deserved opportunity to relax and explore the Museum, alongside a special talk from the Museum’s interpretation team about its collections and heritage.

This will be followed by a Family Day, giving families supported by The Sussex Snowdrop Trust the chance to enjoy a peaceful, outdoor wellbeing experience. Families can explore the Museum’s nature trail, take part in hands-on activities in the Watermill, enjoy traditional games, and participate in craft activities to create keepsakes to take home.

Collaborations like this help raise vital awareness and funds for the work we do supporting local children with life-threatening and terminal illnesses, and their families. We are delighted that our families will enjoy a fun day out here. There is so many activities on offer. It is important for these children to spend quality time with their siblings and parents. It is wonderful for them to have the freedom to explore in nature and find happier times together.” said Di Levantine, Chair and Co-Founder of The Sussex Snowdrop Trust.

The Museum is also running its annual Easter holiday trail from Saturday 28 March to Sunday 12 April, featuring the “Flower Code Quest”, inspired by The Sussex Snowdrop Trust’s emblem.

To further support the partnership, the Museum will donate £3 from every annual membership purchased during the Easter holiday period (whether purchased online or on-site) to The Sussex Snowdrop Trust.
