A Royal Delivery

We have just sent off a special parcel to Buckingham Palace with over 400 postcards for Her Majesty the Queen.

Throughout half term week, visitors were invited to share their messages and pictures for the Queen using Jubilee postcards that were available from the shop and café.

People of all ages spanning 18 months to 80 years old took part with thoughtful and celebratory tributes to mark the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The parcel of postcards is now on its way to the Queen.

The Big Jubilee Hurrah was just one of a wonderful array of Jubilee-themed family fun activities that took place this half term. Families also had the chance to create commemorative badges, plates and medals as well as traditional peg-dolls of the Queen, decorated to depict the changing fashion during her 70-year reign.

We were delighted to welcome over 4,750 visitors throughout the week to enjoy the celebrations.

We are now preparing for our own milestone event with the 20th Anniversary of the award-winning Downland Gridshell building on Friday 17th June. The first major gridshell building to be constructed in the UK, the day will include a special programme of short presentations and group discussions from individuals and organisations involved in the design and construction of this incredible structure.
