CURRENT VACANCIES

We are currently recruiting for three outstanding individuals to join our Board of Trustees. Roles are voluntary and non-executive.

People interested in being appointed a Trustee of the Weald & Downland Living Museum should email a CV and a covering letter explaining how they feel they meet the requirements set out in the above brief to Mrs Jo Pasricha, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, care of Sarah Ward [email protected] by noon on Friday, 24 January 2020.

Shortlisting will take place on Friday, 7 February and shortlisted candidates will be invited to meet the Chairman, Vice-Chairman and at least two other Trustees on Wednesday, 26 or Thursday, 27 February.

The museum attracts approx. 13,000 school pupils each year with a varied and exciting programme of learning and we have an opportunity for an engaging and creative Schools Services Officer to join the team. The main purpose of this role is to take the lead in cross-curricular learning by coordinating and delivering the Museum’s Schools Service to primary and secondary schools.

The successful candidate will be able to:

  • Demonstrate experience in working with young people in a school or other learning environment
  • Demonstrate strong coordination, communication and administration skills
  • Demonstrate successful experience of direct contact/teaching with school groups and teachers along with management of projects with practical up to date understanding of curriculum and teaching/learning issues and methods
  • Develop relationships with external stakeholders relevant to schools and teachers.

We have an exciting opportunity in our Finance Team for a part-time Assistant Accountant to support the Finance Manager in carrying out the statutory financial activities of the Museum.  The successful candidate will assist in maintaining Sales and Purchase Ledgers as well as posting bank transactions into the accounting system and maintaining Balance Sheets.  They will be involved with supplier statement reconciliations, accruals, prepayments as well as deferred income.

You must be AAT qualified or hold an equivalent Accounting/Finance degree with 3 years’ experience in a similar role. Experience and a good working knowledge of Sage Accounts is essential.  You should be computer literate including use of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.  We require you to be able to work independently and use your own initiative as well as work as part of a wider team.
