The Bard School Tyrants in the libary workshop at the Weald & Downland Living Museum

The Bard School: Tyrants in the Library

As part of our Home Education offer, we welcome storyteller Dawn Nelson with The Bard School, as our tutor for this special hands-on workshop.

During each workshop, we will explore a new history theme, bringing the past to life through interactive experiences.

Our workshops are aimed at children aged 9 + years, with an accompanying adult supporting their children where needed.

Explore our Tyrants in the Library workshop

Join us for the second of five workshops for home educators, that explore storytelling through time.

In this workshop we explore the first ever libraries, the 7th century BCE tyrant Ashurbanipal, the wonders held in his library and how fragments of these epic stories continue to be discovered to this day.

During this workshop participants will have the opportunity to create their own cuneiform tablet to start their own ancient library.

About the Tutor

Dawn Nelson lives within the beautiful South Downs. The focus of her work is Celtic, British and Scandinavian mythology, although many other traditions also inform her practice. Through storytelling she hopes to encourage a reconnection to our natural selves, through the lessons present within stories, folklore, nature and the landscapes they inhabit. She has worked with multiple museums, heritage sites, community organisations and charities across the South of England.
