Herbal Woodcuts: Block Cutting & Printing
The Course
Learn about the historical craft of creating woodcut prints. The day will begin with a visit to one of the Museum’s gardens to gain inspiration from the historic plant collection. Back at the classroom, you’ll then have a chance to look at a sample of herbal illustrations before going on to design, cut and print your own woodcut.
Suitable for all abilities, with tuition on illustration, woodblock cutting and printing techniques.
The Tutor
Will Dyke trained in Illustration and Printmaking at Harrow College, University of Westminster.
Will specialises in woodcut printing, and teaches regular workshops and classes. Much of his work is inspired by rural life and history.
Participant Information
All materials will be included for the course but if you wish to buy further materials from the tutor this will be possible.
This course takes places in the Downland Gridshell which can be cool so it is advisable to wear layers.
Fee & Refreshments
£80 per person, to include tuition, teas and coffees. If you have any dietary requirements please let us know in advance. The Museum cafe will be open or you may wish to bring a packed lunch
