February Half Term Activities
Head to the Museum for fantastic indoor and outdoor fun this February half term – Saturday 10 to Sunday 18 February
We will be having lots of fun exploring around our 40 acre site with:
- Bird and nest box trail – Saturday 10 to Sunday 18 – for national nest box week, learn more about local birds and their nesting habits with a trail around the Museum.
- Knucker the Dragon’s Nature School – Tuesday 13 to Thursday 15 – Come and make your own little stick people and a paper bag bird nest with a bird at the Creation Station, learn about bird noises and how to identify different types of trees at the Investigation Station, and at the Games Station you can guess which egg belongs to which bird and have a go at our returning favourite Knucker marble game.
- Folklore Stories with Dawn Nelson – Venture into the woods with performance storyteller Dawn Nelson as she tells tales of trees, birds and woodland folk. Green women, magpies and hedgehogs all have their tales to tell. Dawn will be at the museum on Monday 12 and Friday 16 with performances at 11.30am, 1230, 1.30pm and 2.30pm.
- Table top jousting – Monday 12 to Friday 16 – Joust against friends or family in this fun activity, here all week! Table top jousting returns for the half term, just drop in and join Adrian in this lively game.
Half term activities are included in an annual Museum membership, no need to pre-book just present your valid membership on arrival.

The Museum’s 40 acres site, historic gardens and buildings are fascinating places to learn about rural history. Visitors can purchase grain from the Museum shop and feed the hungry ducks on the mill pond. Whilst enjoying the great outdoors and fresh air, look out for our working animals, which can include the Heavy Horses, Sheep and Ducks. There are a number of lovely woodland trails, including a woodland play area for children to explore.
Why not enjoy breakfast, brunch or lunch at our waterside café? Visitors can also bring a picnic as there are plenty of picnic areas available on site. Takeaway refreshments will also be available from our seasonal Shepherd’s Huts located around the Museum.
Dogs on short leads are welcome and there is ample free parking. Please note that the Museum is a no-smoking site. Visitors with access needs are advised to read our accessibility page in advance of their visit.
