Creative Crewelwork

The Course

Have fun creating your own design, inspired by traditional crewelwork patterns from stylised plant forms and flowers. A range of motifs will be available to use or further adapt, with plenty of help on the day. Working with embroidery threads on natural linen, learn to combine a number of decorative stitches, together with silk shading techniques. The tutor will provide fabric and a range of threads.

The Tutor

Caroline Vincent is the author of two books on sampler embroidery, and has an international reputation for specialising in creative contemporary pictorial samplers. Her commissions are held in both public and private collections, and she combines her studio work with exhibiting and lecturing. She regularly contributes to periodicals and craft magazines and also runs workshops at the Stitch & Craft Fair, Olympia and the Knitting & Stitching Show, Alexandra Palace.

Participant Information

The course will provide all the required materials plus a choice of threads and beads. Please bring small sharp scissors and your sewing glasses.

Fee & Refreshments

£65 per person, to include tuition, teas and coffees. Please let the Museum know if you have any special dietary requirements. The Museum café will be open or you can bring a packed lunch.
