Make a Medieval long stitch book

The course

On this course you will learn how to make a medieval long stitch book in leather with linen thread using techniques that have not changed in 400 years. You will have a fully functional notebook complete with wrap around tie by the end of the course.

The tutors

Marysa de Veer runs a bookbinding company called Otter Bookbinding Ltd based in Midhurst. She has been a working bookbinding for 25 years and is a specialist in antiquarian book repair as well as bespoke bookbinding in all it’s forms. Marysa enjoys arts and crafts and has designed a number of books and is actively involved in the yearly August art trail in Midhurst. She is a part time tutor of bookbinding at West Dean College and also runs monthly courses from the workshop in Midhurst.

All equipment and materials will be provided.

Fee and refreshments

£70 per person, to include tuition, teas and coffees. Please let the Museum know in advance if you have any dietary requirements. The Museum cafe will be open or you may bring a packed lunch.
