Sunday 15 November 2020
Enjoy making your own decorated and gilded capital letter, which can be used to enhance your calligraphy or to create a vibrant decorative letter, using line, colour and real gold or gold gouache. You will be very busy on the day and you may wish to research an idea and bring your own exciting letter design to the workshop or perhaps select from the designed resources that will be provided. Further letters can be drawn with a pencil or created with a pen and illuminated and painted.
Jan Mehigan first studied calligraphy and Illumination during a five year course at Art College. She is a Fellow of both the Society of Scribes and Illuminators (SSI) and The Calligraphy and Lettering Arts Society (CLAS).

She has taught Drawing and Watercolour Painting and Calligraphy in Adult Education for over 28 years and tutored day, weekend and week workshops for various organisations during that time, including the Society of all Artists (SAA). She has written several calligraphy books, some co-authored with Mary Noble, and contributed to other books and publications. Jan’s work has been in many calligraphic exhibitions and she has demonstrated at Art in Action.
