Enjoy the bustle of a traditional steam fair! Step back in time on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 August and experience the nostalgic sights and sounds of an era when steam powered the country.
Our visitors can enjoy all the bustle and excitement of a traditional Steam festival, with full-size and model steam engines on display and working around the Museum’s 40-acre site.
With vintage music and a themed tea tent, local crafts and traditional demonstrations, plus arena displays throughout the weekend, this is an event for visitors of all ages to enjoy!
In addition to an extensive selection of full-size steam engines, there will also be a wide range of exhibits including: commercial vehicles, military vehicles, miniature steam engines, narrow gauge railways, model boats and classic cars.
On Sunday 21, The Jaguar Enthusiasts Club, Portsmouth Region will hold its annual club event at the show and visitors are welcome to view the cars.
A popular attraction at the event is the gallopers ride, powered by a Fowler Showman’s steam engine, which is at the centre of a small traditional vintage fairground (small charges apply).
Visitors to the show can also take a ride on the narrow gauge steam railway and enjoy displays in the Events Field arena, which will include the popular “steer a steam engine”.
The Vintage & Steam event is open from 10.30am – 5.00pm (the Museum itself will also close at 5pm for safety reasons). Standard Museum admission prices include entry to the Vintage & Steam event. Tickets are available to buy online and on the gate.
Visitors with disabilities are advised to contact the Museum in advance of their visit, to discuss the easiest way to access the Museum site. Dogs on short leads are welcome and there is ample free parking.
The show programme will be uploaded to the event page and ready to read on the 18 August.[envira-gallery id=”1684″]
