Things to see and do in the Chichester Area

Chichester is a great place if you are planning a weekend away, a family holiday on the South Coast or if you are travelling to the UK from overseas.   Chichester  is only 65 miles from London.  The area around Chichester represents 'England in Miniature' with beautiful downland countryside, heritage, hidden villages and country pubs plus a coastline famed for its seaside resorts, harbours teeming with bird life and havens for yachtsmen.  Chichester city is famous for its cathedral, its Roman remains and award winning theatres as well as providing all modern facilities with excellent shopping, cafes and restaurants, and a leisure centre.  Within a radius of less than 20 miles of Chichester you will find numerous historic houses, museums, gardens, art galleries and other attractions.  There is something for everybody in this area, browse the map below to find out more.

Chichester Harbour, the adjacent coast and the nearby Solent is one of the south coast's finest recreational areas and is a mecca for sailing and watersports enthusiasts.  It also provides an important habitat for wildlife.  Chichester Harbour Water Tours provide leisure cruises in the area.  The Witterings and Bracklesham Bay are popular holiday resorts with unspoiled sandy beaches. Bognor Regis and Littlehampton are traditional English seaside resorts.

For walkers there is the South Downs Way and a host of other beautiful landscapes including the woodlands and chalk downlands north of Chichester with their unspoilt villages and the atmospheric harbour, nature reserves and coastline to the south.
