Green Man Themed Half-Term Fun

Wrap up warm and head to the Museum for some fantastic indoor and outdoor hands-on fun this February half-term.

From Monday 20 to Friday 24 February children can channel their excitement and energy into a range of creative challenges and countryside skills, including outdoor trails, arts and crafts activities, all of which are located around our 40-acre downland site. Wet weather will not spoil play as we have plenty of areas under cover.

The theme for February half-term is the green man and awesome activities include:

  • Plant a seed, take it home, watch it grow!
  • Create a glorious green man collage and make a mask to wear
  • Hear fascinating folklore stories
  • Create crazy woolly creatures
  • Follow the exciting green trail! Where will it take you?
  • Take part in activities linked to the South Downs Dark Skies Festival

The Museum’s historic buildings are fascinating places to explore. Learn how food was prepared without modern technology in the Tudor kitchen. Look out for the Shire horses and oxen, and the traditional breed farm animals including sheep, chickens and geese.

Most activities are under cover and will run from 11am-3pm. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. The café kiosk will be open, plus there are indoor and outdoor picnic areas. Dogs on leads are welcome and there is ample free parking. Please wear clothes and shoes that are suitable for playing outdoors. Regular admission charges apply and the Museum will open at 10.30am and close at 4.00pm.

The Museum is home to 50 historic buildings, which have been rescued from destruction, moved and carefully reconstructed on the downland site. Whatever the weather, a visit to the Museum is a great opportunity to bring friends and family to its idyllic location in the heart of the South Downs National Park.
