The Museum has a comprehensive reference library relating to vernacular architecture, building conservation and rural crafts and skills – it is one of the leading archives in the country on these subjects.
Researching local history?
This is becoming easier in the Museum’s Library, as our volunteers carry out the major task of re-shelving. All local history books and other publications are being grouped by county and town or village, and biographies by subject, rather than author. So, if you are looking for Bosham or Belloc, Bob Copper or Bognor (or anything else!) come and see us. We also have magazines, newsletters and journals, such as The Sussex County Magazine, Petworth Society Magazine, Sussex Notes & Queries, Sussex Archaeological Collections and many more covering several counties.
Accessing the library
The whole library catalogue is summarised on a special website www.wdoam.co.uk and the search facility on this website can be used to find both article and book titles.
The library is usually open on Monday mornings (and often on other days as well) or by appointment. Contact email@example.com or call 01243 811363 for details.
