Rare Breeds 2015

Rare & Traditional Breeds Show 2015

Sunday 19 July 2015

Celebrating 30 years!

Four legs, furry legs, feathered legs… come and see cattle, sheep, pigs, goats and poultry in this delightful agricultural show for rare and traditional breeds. With prizes at stake and classes for young handlers, it is one of the biggest shows of its kind in the South East and hugely popular with visitors and exhibitors alike.

“Don’t miss The Sheep Show shuffle”. Yes, dancing sheep!

Watch The Sheep Show

This year we are proud to have with us the award-winning demonstration The Sheep Show – a fun and educational live show of sheep breeds and shearing. It is highly entertaining and educational “It’s a bit like Miss World in sheep”, says New Zealander Richard Savory who owns and operates the show from their farm in Norfolk. Clap along with Nobby the Norfolk horn and Susie the Southdown during the 30-minute shows, which incorporates a shearing demonstration showing how you get wool from the sheep, back to a jumper to wear.

Crafts, demonstrations, food & drink

Enjoy a delicious hog roast, BBQ, bubble and squeak, ice cream, cakes, artisan breads, and buy a variety of local produce from vendors in the Events Field. Try tasty homemade light lunches and snacks from the Museum café marquee in the Events Field or its kiosk behind the Market Square. Why not quench your thirst with cider at the Wobblegate bar in the Events Field.

Also enjoy craft and trade stands, plus demonstrations with a countryside theme.

Opening hours

The Rare & Traditional Breeds Show is held in the Museum’s Events Field and is open 10.00am to 4.00pm. The Museum itself will remain open until 5.00pm for visitors to enjoy our collection of historic buildings.
