The Weald and Downland Open Air Museum is a unique location for your wedding and a tranquil haven from the rush and noise of modern living. Here, over 40 historic buildings set in a beautiful 19th century park provide an outstanding backdrop for your great day.

Wedding ceremonies, for up to 50 seated guests, take place in Crawley Hall. The first floor of this 16th century building is a long, open timber-framed room which may have originally been a communal meeting place. Crawley Hall is not open to general visitors.

One of the attractions of Crawley Hall as a wedding venue is that only one wedding ceremony is booked on one day, so you will not feel rushed and can relax and enjoy your day. Ceremonies can take place at the time of your choice, but the legally binding words of the ceremony must be said before 6 pm.

The Museum provides a beautiful backdrop for your wedding, with plenty of idyllic settings for your wedding photographs.

For those that wish to stay and celebrate their wedding, whether with champagne and canapés by the lake, or beer and doughnuts in the Market Square, we will try to accommodate your wishes. There will be a nominal cost for extra guests at this stage. There are other lovely venues for your reception which are easily accessible from the Museum. Your celebrations can continue until the Museum closes at 6 pm.

We would be pleased to discuss your individual requirements, to ensure that your wedding day is as relaxed, perfect and memorable as possible. Please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it   or telephone on 01243 811464.
