Embroider a lively scene depicting sheep, grasses and flowering plants, using simple stitch and appliqué techniques, to create pattern and surface texture.
Students will have the opportunity to work from set patterns that can be adapted and personalised, according to individual choice. A complete kit including fabric and threads will be available to purchase on the day.Caroline Vincent is the author of two books on sampler embroidery, and has an international reputation for specialising in creative contemporary pictorial samplers. Her commissions are held in both public and private collections, and she combines her studio work with exhibiting and lecturing. She regularly contributes to periodicals and craft magazines and also runs workshops at the Stitch & Craft Fair, Olympia and the Knitting & Stitching Show, Alexandra Palace.

Materials & Tools: Students should come with basic needlework equipment. A range of fabrics will be available for purchase on the day, and needles and various threads will be supplied for general use.

The Weald & Downland Open Air Museum has over 45 historic building exhibits. It is also home to the award winning and innovative Downland Gridshell, which houses a conservation workshop and artefact store, and is also used for many practical courses. The Museum runs a full programme of courses in historic building conservation and traditional rural trades and crafts, along with MSc programmes in Building Conservation and Timber Building Conservation.
