10am to 4pm
In this workshop we will be using prepared fleece to produce a felt hat (which participants can keep). The process will include the use of water and soap and a certain degree of physical effort!
Hilary Charlesworth is a member of the Surrey Guild of Craftsmen and exhibits her work, details of which can be seen on www.totallytextiles.co.uk. She teaches workshops in a number of textile skills and is a member of the Institute for Learning.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with some experience. Places will be limited to 6 people.
Please bring: towel, camera, notebook and rubber gloves.Enough wool to make one bag is included in the course fee. More will be available to purchase on the day if required.
£45 per person per day, including tuition, coffees and teas. The Museum café will be open or participants may bring their own packed lunches.
The Weald & Downland Open Air Museum has over 45 historic building exhibits. It is also home to the award winning and innovative Downland Gridshell, which houses a conservation workshop and artefact store, and is also used for many practical courses. The Museum runs a full programme of courses in historic building conservation and traditional rural trades and crafts, along with MSc programmes in Building Conservation and Timber Building Conservation.
