Gränsfors Bruks Axes

The Swedes are the world's greatest axe enthusiasts, and Gransfors Bruks is one of their finest forges. Each axe is carefully forged by an experienced smith who shows his pride in his work by stamping his initials on the head next to the company logo. Each smith is introduced in “The Axe Book” that accompanies every Gransfors Bruks axe. After forging, each blade is ground to a 25° bevel and honed to a razor edge. Each axe is then fitted with a tight-grained hickory handle and provided with a grain-leather sheath with snap fastener. A twenty-year guarantee is the final stamp of quality. We are proud to present the largest range of Gransfors tools available from stock in the United Kingdom. We are also happy to supply on a wholesale basis.

Since October 2004 we are privileged to offer the Gransfors Axes Ancient Collection beautiful replicas of historic axes which are well-proportioned, functional tools in their own right.

Swedish Broad Axe.

More challenging to use than right-hand or left-hand broad axes, but considerably more versatile, is the straight broad axe 480 The blade is in line with the eye, and the edge is bevelled on both sides like a regular axe. It can be used to hew either side of a timber or its horizontal surface, too. On straight-grained wood it leaves surfaces nearly as clean as a right-hand or left-hand axe. Like those, this axe has a 3-lb. head with 7” face and 20” handle. The axe is fitted with a tight-grained hickory handle and provided with a grain-leather sheath with snap fastener.

Swedish Broad Axe Left or Right Angled.

This lets the axe’s eye and handle stand clear of the timber while the user employs a straight, easy swing to let the flat face of the axe shave the surface like a huge plane. The axe heads weigh 3 lbs., and are 7” wide. 20” textured hickory handles allow short, controlled swings for accurate work. The axe is fitted with a tight-grained hickory handle and provided with a grain-leather sheath with snap fastener.
