Volunteer and Visitor
Services Manager
|
We are pleased to confirm and announce the appointment of
Charlotte Thwaites as Volunteer and Visitor Services Manager. She started in
this role on 2 March 2009. Some of you will have met Charlie already at the
Museum Community Forum and for those who haven’t, before joining us she was
employed by Arun District Council as a Foreshore Inspector working at
Littlehampton. The demands of this role equip her admirably for her new
Museum life and having won a Silver Medal at the Chelsea Flower Show I know
many of you will be picking her brains about horticulture! If you haven’t
met Charlie do pop into Longport office and say hello! She will usually be
here Monday – Friday, her number is 01243 811933.
The Volunteer rotas will now be co-ordinated by Susie Jardine and if you
have any queries or alterations please telephone Susie on 01243 811015 and
leave a message if necessary. (Susie continues her existing working pattern
of Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, plus some weekends).

New signs – basic information about our exhibits
|
| For over a year I have been trying out various different
formats for signs to give visitors basic information about our exhibit
buildings, and an example of the final version is shown below. There are 36
signs altogether, and we are ready to send them off to be encapsulated so as
to be vandal- and weather-proof. They will then be mounted on angled boards
and placed close enough to the buildings to be clearly related, but avoiding
as far as possible “getting in the way” of the views.
Visitors have clearly expressed their desire for basic
information to be more easily available, and I think these signs will make a
big difference to the quality of people’s visits.
