Weald & Downland Open Air Museum
23 - 29 August 2005
An
Exhibition of Country Paintings by renowned Petersfield artist Gordon
Rushmer will take place at the Weald & Downland Open Air Museum, Singleton,
near Chichester from 23 – 29 August 2005. Gordon’s paintings have been
exhibited nationally, in Europe and the USA, and he has undertaken many high
profile commissions including the Royal Marines Museum, Cunard and ICI.
Gordon
has a close association with the Museum, having been Artist in Residence in
2000, with previous exhibitions in 1996, 1998, 2000 and 2003. Over the last
five years he has held a number of very popular five-day Watercolour
Workshops, as part of the Museum’s rich programme of courses in Traditional
Rural Trades and Crafts.
As well
as individual commissions, Gordon has works in the collections of the
National Library of Wales, Nelson Mandela, the Foreign and Commonwealth
Office, the House of Lords and the Royal Netherlands Marine Corps to name
but a few. For the past ten years he has worked as a war artist in all the
major areas of conflict, his most recent tour being to Iraq in 2004 with the
Dutch Marines. The Museum is delighted to host this Exhibition of Country
Paintings which reflect many aspects of the rural heritage and traditions
brought to life at the Museum.
The
Museum is open each day during the Exhibition from 10.30am to 6pm.
Admission prices: £7.70 (adults), £6.70 (over 60s), £4.10 (children and
