Most of the work will be practical, and a demonstration of how one uses a microscope to ascertain certain diagnostic features not visible with a hand lens will be given.
David Woodbridge, BA(Hons), MA, FIWSc, LCGI After an extensive career in the timber industry and latterly as manager of training at the Timber Research and Development Association, David Woodbridge now works as a timber consultant trading as Timber Tectonics Education Services. In addition he both teaches and examines the Institute of Wood Science courses, and was formerly their Director.
£99 per person, to include tuition, teas and coffees and a light lunch, use of equipment and samples.
The course will be limited to ten participants. A full set of timber samples and adequate lenses will be provided. If any delegates have a timber they would like identified they are welcome to bring it with them.
The Weald & Downland Open Air Museum has over 45 historic building exhibits. It is also home to the award winning and innovative Downland Gridshell, which houses a conservation workshop and artefact store, and is also used for many practical courses. The Museum runs a full programme of courses in historic building conservation and traditional rural trades and crafts, along with MSc programmes in Building Conservation and Timber Building Conservation.
