10am to 4.30pm
A one-day course looking at clothing worn by individuals of a low status who lived in dwellings similar to those at the museum. We will also compare their clothing with that of higher status individuals, with evidence from books and pictures. You will have a chance to see items that have been re-created for use at the Museum by interpreters and volunteers and the tutor’s work and research relating to other sites.
There will be opportunities to handle original garments and fabrics, to examine stock replica clothing, discuss the techniques involved, examine clothing in detail, and maybe try out a few stitches.
Please bring a notebook, tape measure, camera and sketch book. Material will be provided for any sewn samples.
£60 per person, to include all tuition, teas & coffees. The cafe will be open for lunch or you can bring a packed lunch.
Offer: book two places on any of the heritage professional courses costing £60 at the same time and pay £50 per place!
