Interior Fitout - Conservation Store

November 2001

The rails for the roller racking system are installed in the conservation store.

Expanded foam insulation (pink) followed by a steel reinforcing mat is nailed to the floor to form the base for the plastic underfloor heating pipes and the floor screed.  The hot water distribution system is shown to the right.

January 2002

All interior and exterior doors and windows are constructed from English oak.

Lighting and electrics operational and the floors are painted in the conservation store....

Roller racking is installed.

And the collection starts to arrive and is installed in its proper place.

The furniture and the curator Julian Bell arrive in the newly named Mitford Foulerton Studio

and work on the collection begins in earnest..
