The Book of Fires (PB) - Jane Borodale Jane Borodale has been Writer in Residence at the Museum since September 2008, financed by the Leverhulme Trust. She has been studying the Museum’s buildings and is writing a series of short stories based on the buildings and their background histories . The Book of Fires is set in the mid 18th century and is linked to the Museum in that the action starts in Poplar Cottage, where the central character, Agnes Trussel, lives. Agnes runs away to London, but her memories of the Sussex countryside form a constant refrain in the narrative. Beautifully written and engaging, the book was first published in May 2009 and nominated for an Orange Book Award in 2010. ISBN 978-0007305735 |
